Holly Sass wins the WBPM Lunchbox and a visit from The Electric Morning Show!
On July 21st, Holly Sass found out the The Reis Group's Kingston office was the winner of WBPM 92.9's Lunch Box. Lunch from Dave at Angela's Pizza was delivered by Jack Hammer and Andre Kane of the Electric Morning Show to feed the whole staff. Our thanks go out to Holly for entering our office in the contest and to the entire staff at WBPM, Classic Hits 92.9 for the "FREE FOOD BABY!"

Congratulations go out to Cathy Roden for being chosen the July Employee of the month. Cathy has taken over the front desk position in the Watervliet office without missing a beat. Her accounting work has been excellent and she continues to help provide tech support to the account managers. She made this move without any hesitation or complaint. Reis Group Sponsors monthly Ulster County Chamber of Commerce Mixer
On Thursday March 25th, The Reis Group sponsored the monthly Ulster County Chamber of Commerce Mixer in the renovated, as yet unnamed back ballroom at the Hillside Manor in Kingston. Delicious finger food was provided by the Demosthenes family. Almost 350 local business people came together for camaraderie and networking. The Reis Group provided a 5th Generation iPod Nano which was won by Joe Fitzgerald of the Rural Ulster Preservation Corp.

BOBBY WEISS ARRESTED*

(*for a good cause!) Reis Account Executive Bobby Weiss was arrested on March 16th, 2010 on behalf of the Kingston MDA Lockup. He was taken to jail (actually Mariners Harbor Restaurant on the Rondout) where he had to frantically call friends, family and business contacts to raise his bail. By 4:00 in the afternoon he raised that bail on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Jerry's Kids. He was set then free to the relief of all involved. We send our congratulations to Bobby for his service to our community and his giving to those less fortunate. |
Paul Casciaro named Chairman of the Glenmont National Alliance Committee

Paul G Casciaro CIC, CSRM, CPIA Chairman and CEO of The Reis Group with locations throughout New York State has recently been appointed Chairman of the Glenmont National Alliance Committee. The Glenmont National Alliance Committee is responsible for management and oversight of all aspects of the educational programs for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut under the auspices of The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research in Austin Texas. |
Reis Group Employees participate in the Saugerties Boy's and Girl's Club annual Steak & Hamburger Dinner
On Tuesday October 27th, Steve Thornton, Leatrice Wallach, Sue Horton and Bobby Weiss participated in the annual Saugerties Boy's and Girl's Club Steak & Hamburger Dinner. This function, sponsored by local businesses including The Reis Group was held at Gisiano's Restaurant in Glasco, NY. While the club members are treated to a steak dinner, their adult couterparts get to chow down on a hamburger (unless as you can see from the picture, the youngsters would rather have the burger!). After dinner the diners listened intently to an inspiring talk by Neil Smoller Jr. of the Village Apothecary. The Reis Group is a proud sponsor of this annual event and we send cudos to our employees for their participation!

Riverfront Insurance Agency participates in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
On Sunday October 18th, the staff and friends of Riverfront Insurance Agency participated in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Washington Park in Albany. Kim Brown, Damian D’Arpino, Robyn Lounsbury and Cathy Roden with friends Gregg Bianchini, Melissa and Lauren Tenance raised 2,100 dollars for the fight against breast cancer. We congratulate our staff from the Watervliet office in their continuing efforts to donate time and talent to their community and for participating in this very worthy event!

Paul Casciaro serves second term on Ulster County Workforce Development Board
Paul G Casciaro, CIC, CSRM, President and CEO of the Reis Group has been reappointed to the Ulster County Workforce Development Board to serve another term. The primary mission of the UC Workforce Board is to support the growth of the local economy by meeting the employment needs of job seekers, current workers and businesses. The motto of the UCWDB is “Where businesses find people and people find jobs”. We congratulate Paul on his second term of service.

PFS Takes Reis Group Commercial Lines employees on the Blue Dolphin for an Evening Hudson River Cruise
Jerry Fastman and colleagues from Premium Finance Specialists took 4 lucky Reis Commercial Lines employees for an evening cruise on Captain Scott Herrington's ship The Blue Dolphin. Good food and fun was had by all and the three hour cruise ended up safe at port, not shipwrecked on a tropic desert isle!

Kingston firm buys majority interest in Riverfront Insurance
A Kingston, N.Y., firm has acquired majority interest in The Riverfront Insurance Agency of Watervliet.
Terms of the deal between Frank H. Reis Inc. and Riverfront owner Kim Julien-Brown were not disclosed.

The Reis Group congratulates Holly Sass, CIC for being chosen Irish Person of the Year at the 40th annual Peter B. Matthews Honorary Irishperson of the year breakfast. Irish person of the year is bestowed on someone who is benevolent to the community and of course, not Irish. Holly has been responsible for organizing this Reis Group sponsored Chamber of Commerce event for many years and we feel this year's selection was well deserved. Karen Prince, CIC, Celebrates her 25th Anniversary with the Reis Group
The Reis Group is happy to announce that Saugerties resident Karen Prince, CIC, an Assistant Manager and Personal Lines Underwriter, was recently honored for twenty-five years of service to the company. Karen, who works in the Kingston Office, was recognized during a recent surprise celebration with her Kingston co-workers after lunch with the Management Team. Karen joined The Reis Group in 1984 as a part-time receptionist. She currently has a New York State Broker’s license and holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. Robert Weiss joins The Reis Group Team
We are proud to announce that Robert Weiss (known to all as Bobby) is now an employee of the Reis Insurance Group. Bobby started with our agency on January 5th, 2009 as an Account Executive in our sales department. He recently completed an intensive three week study course in Albany and successfully became licensed to sell Property and Casualty insurance in the state of New York. Bobby comes to us with 8 years of experience in sales and marketing with his two previous employers. He will be attending a very comprehensive New Producer School program In Hartford, Connecticut in March and April of this year. After his training Bobby will be active in our New Windsor office. Plese join us in welcoming Bobby Weiss to The Reis Group Team!

Tracie Ingham, Jill Barber and Danielle Banks were recognized at the annual Reis Group Holiday Party for being the top three Account Managers participating in the 2008 Sales Initiative. For being the top three Account Managers producing cross sales of insurance to existing clients, all three received an iPod Touch 16 Gig MP3 player. Congratulations!

Paul Casciaro serves on PIA Board of Directors
Paul G Casciaro, CIC, CSRM, is currently serving a term on the Professional Insurance Agent's Board of Directors. He also serves on the PIA Government Affairs Committee. In 2007 Casciaro was awarded PIANY’s Committee Chair of the Year. This award recognizes the time and effort an agent volunteers to help guide the association and implement programs to benefit members. He was honored for his work as chair of the Business Issues Committee.

Reis Group Representatives Receive Certified School Risk Manager Certification
Louis R. Casciaro, CSRM, Executive Vice-President, David V. Palmer, CPCU, CIC, CSRM, Senior Account Executive and and Paul G. Casciaro, CIC, CSRM, President and CEO, all successfully completed the first education/designation program in history for individuals serving as School Risk Managers. All three designees service and maintain the agency’s school accounts. The Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM) designation is conferred on an insurance professional who completes five courses and examinations and commits to meeting annual update requirements to further their knowledge of School Risk Management.

Recognition
Commercial Lines Manager Pat Parsons and husband Mick's daughter Amanda was awarded the One Beacon Insurance Company scholarship. She was awarded based on her achievements during her high school years for academics, leadership and community service. There were only 20 students who received this award nationwide. Congratulations Amanda!!!!
